What is UHMW and why do we use it?
UHMW (Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) is an extremely durable, impact-resistant polymer designed to handle brutal abuse. It’s highly resistant to abrasion, absorbs impact without cracking, and slides smoothly over rocks and obstacles instead of catching like aluminum.
That means:
- Less hang-ups on the trail
- Reduced damage to your frame and components
- Longer-lasting protection
It’s the gold standard for serious off-road skid protection.
How difficult is installation?
Most installs are straightforward bolt-on applications using factory mounting locations.
If you're comfortable using:
- Basic hand tools
- A jack or lift (recommended)
- Following step-by-step instructions
You’ll be good to go.
Install time typically ranges from:
- A-arm guards: 1–2 hours
- Trailing arm guards: 1–2 hours
- Rock sliders: 1–2 hours
- Full skid plate systems: 3–5 hours
Do I need to remove factory skid plates?
Yes. Our full skid plate systems replace the OEM skid protection entirely, giving you significantly stronger coverage.
Do they add a lot of weight?
UHMW is lighter than steel and competitive with aluminum systems. We design every product to maximize strength without unnecessary weight gain.
